Kickin Balls I

Whaddup kick ball enthusiasts? We have a bimission: kick some balls and drink some beers! Let's play ball... but if you're not athletically inclined come drink some team beer, get rowdy, and cheer us on! Bring some picnic snacks-vegetarian preferred and no need to byob unless you wanna. All friends and fellow kick ballers are welcome. Sunday Slackers Unite!

And so it began with an idea and an evite. The date, Sunday, August 26th. The time 3 o'clock. The location... well, we'll just keep that a secret. If you were there then you probably know. And if you're just a blog spectator then you'll have to come to the next kickin balls gathering to find out.

It started out slow. Or shall we say relaxed. Plenty of good hangin time with friends, some tasty snacks, and oh that lovely big bark that floated us through the hazy afternoon. Sure it was hot, but we're tough and we all know what a treat it was to even be able to stand outside in late August in Austin without passing out, much less being able to run around bases or, as the number one team found out, having extended innings in the sunshine diamond.

After a call campaign, we finally had enough players to play so we did. During the first round number two was definitely kicking number one's ass, but give up they did not. At least not until the bottom of the fifth with one score in double digits and the other's still having a hard time getting on base.... Game over, let's play another... and so we did with a more evenly split team, a closer game, and a fond farewell to the big bark.

If we could play a funny role of highlights right here we would... and they would include Mike getting pegged and hitting the ground with a beer in hand, our incredible on-top of it umpires, Cori's slobberball blast from Heather, Hannis's amazing catches and cigarette kickin, Misty - everybody's posted up catcher, Karlie's breakdown on Corey Haim and Corey Feldman, and whatever else we laughed about that isn't getting remembered at this very moment. Thank goodness for pictures! Peace and we'll be in touch about Kickin Balls II.
